VOGT, along with the architects Cukrowicz Nachbaur ZT GmbH, Bregenz, wins the project competition for the renovation and extension of the Bürgerheim in Appenzell.
The existing situation is characterised by the distinctive topography of a rising plateau above the river Sitter, situated in a favored sunny position. The former retirement home, now serving as a citizens' home, is a listed solitary building. For the extension, a structure is considered that is modest and does not compete with the existing building. The planned garden within the inner courtyard of the round building allows residents to enjoy nature in a protected space and cultivate community.
