Approval Resolution for the PaketPost Site in Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, Munich
5.2.2025
The Munich City Council has recently approved the resolution for the PaketPost site. The development proposed by Herzog & de Meuron and Vogt Landscape around the listed parcel post hall will create a new urban quarter with new housing, workplaces and high-quality open spaces.
The open space design provides an opportunity to integrate the parcel post hall into Munich’s wider open space network, completing the connection between Nymphenburg Park and the main railway station near the track field. This intervention strengthens the continuity of open spaces. The currently inaccessible PaketPost site will become part of the public urban realm. The open space concept responds to the needs of future residents, offering a vareity of uses while maintaining a coherent overall concept. Different open space typologies at ground, courtyard and rooftop levels form socially and ecologically sustainable spaces. Areas with flexible and defined uses enable appropriation by a diverse urban society. Vegetation and soil are designed to be climate-resilient and site-specific, forming the essential continuum of the PaketPost site's open space and contributing to microclimatic goals.
