Book Launch Preannouncement "39 Garden Plans"

Coming Soon ! 39 Garden Plans – Unusual Gardens for an Ordinary House.

In the 1960s, Sørensen developed the 39 garden plans using the simple yet effective tool of variant studies. He thus created an offer for the imagination and realisation of gardens as needs-based open spaces, which simultaneously become atmospheric places that can be experienced in an artistic form of expression. The newly published garden plans are enriched by overview-like excerpts from Sørensen’s extensive oeuvre and design-strategic annotations by Günther Vogt. Particularly in times of increasing distinction between the private and the public spaces, they serve to analyse the open space type of the (urban) garden - even beyond the private sphere.

These concepts are especially relevant today, addressing contemporary challenges such as individualisation, extreme weather events, digitisation, and privatisation, and countering the prevalent design uniformity and lack of social public spaces in European urban landscapes.
